During the 1950s to 1970s, the majority of the teak used in Danish furniture production was imported from Southeast Asia, particularly from countries such as Indonesia, Myanmar, and Thailand. Teak is native to the region and was widely harvested from old-growth forests. The wood was highly valued for its strength, durability, and prized for its warm golden-brown hue, which deepened with age and exposure to sunlight, making it highly sought after for fine furniture making in Denmark.
